Dr. Peters sees great demand among high-net-worth private investors as well as semi-professional and institutional investors

From now on, the owner-managed Dr. Peters Group will cooperate with the companies wiwi consult and Wi IPP, founded by energy transition pioneer Matthias Willenbacher. The partnership serves to quickly and sustainably establish and expandthe infrastructure business area in the field of renewable energies newly set up by the Dr. Peters Group with the best possible professional support. A special AIF that invests in five repowering wind turbines in Rhineland-Palatinate is the first joint venture between the partners. The Dr. Peters Group acts as the fund provider, WI IPP GmbH & Co. KG as asset manager and operator. With wiwi consult GmbH & Co. KG, an experienced project developer in the field of renewable energies is also on hand.

In the repowering project at the Mehringer Höhe wind farm, existing old turbines will be replaced by five modern Enercon wind turbines with a total capacity of around 28 megawatts. In the future, the wind farm will generate more than 70 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually and supply around 28,000 two-person households. This saves around 53,000 tons of CO₂. Commissioning is planned for the period between autumn 2026 and March 2027.

Leading developer of wind and solar farms in Germany

Matthias Willenbacher erected his first wind turbine back in 1996. With the subsequent foundation, he built up juwi, one of the largest project developers for renewable energy plants, in Germany with locations all over the world. Today, it bundles its activities in several companies that cover the spectrum from development and operation to the financing of renewable energy plants and sustainable impact investments.

His companies wiwi consult and Wi IPP will be responsible for the repowering of the wind farm, which has been in existence for over 20 years, and the subsequent operation of the Dr. Peters Group’s first wind power fund. In addition, the operating company itself participates in the wind farm. This ensures the equality of interests of all parties involved.

A cooperation based on partnership

“I am very pleased that we as the Dr. Peters Group have succeeded in entering into a cooperation with Matthias Willenbacher’s companies based on partnership,” says Kristina Salamon, Managing Partner of the Dr. Peters Group. “With his highly specialized companies, he brings exactly the experience in the development and operation of renewable energy plants that is particularly valuable for our future tangible asset investments in this sector. I am convinced that with this cooperation we are not only opening a new but also a successful chapter in the history of the Dr. Peters Group.”

Salamon emphasizes: “We take sustainability very seriously and are actively driving it forward with new tangible asset investments in the field of wind farms. We know from many conversations that numerous investors are very interested in such investment opportunities. From now on, we will be able to serve this interest in the best possible way.”

Matthias Willenbacher, founder of wiwi consult and WI IPP, among others, adds: “Through the cooperation with the Dr. Peters Group, we will be able to put the financing of our repowering projects on a broader footing in the future. In particular, our partner’s good access to high-net-worth private investors as well as semi-professional and institutional investors opens up new opportunities. In any case, we are very much looking forward to working with Dr. Peters and are convinced that together we can make a valuable contribution to even more sustainable energy generation.”
